 Warning

Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Remove/install

Drain off coolant

Remove pressure line from high-pressure pump to fuel distributor

Remove connection fitting for coolant hoses

Remove coolant hose (3)

 Installation: For installation of clamp (2), observe the marking on the coolant hose (3). Check clamp (2) and coolant hose (3) for damage.

For a damaged clamp (2) or damaged coolant hose (3)



Replace affected assembly part.

Disconnect electrical connection (5)

Unhook fuel hose from holder (4)

Remove charge air distributor (1)

 To do this remove screw/bolts (7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14). Screw/bolts (7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14) remain on charge air distributor (1).

 Installation: Replace seal (6). Tighten screw/bolts (7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14) in numerical sequence.

Modify holder (4) on charge air distributor (1)

When replacing the charge air distributor (1).

Modify intake port shutoff positioner (M72/1)

When replacing the charge air distributor (1).

Clean

Clean sealing surfaces at cylinder head and charge air distributor (1)

Install in the reverse order



Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear buttoned-up and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
