Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Remove engine cover

Remove screw/bolts (2)

 Bolt, bypass valve vacuum unit bracket to bypass valve

Remove hose (3)

Remove aneroid capsule (1)

 To do this unhook lever (4).

Disconnect electrical connection (5)

Remove bracket (6)

 To do this, remove screw/bolts (7).

 Bolt, bracket to exhaust gas recirculation valve/bypass flap

Remove fuel filter (9) and place to one side

 To do this open retaining clamp and unhook fuel line (8).

Remove bracket (10)

 To do this remove ball head (11).

Disconnect electrical connection (12)

Disconnect electrical connection (13)

Unfasten fuel line (14)

 Remove screw/bolt (15) to do this.

Unlock and remove locking clamp (16) upwards

Remove screw/bolts (17)

 Bolt, intake port shutoff actuator motor to charge air distributor

Remove intake port shutoff positioner (M72/1)

 To do this pull intake port shutoff positioner (M72/1) all the way to the rear, tilt, twist somewhat and remove upwards.

Install in the reverse order

 Headless screws/bolts: screws/bolts and nuts, coarse-pitch thread
