Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Remove

Remove exhaust gas recirculation cooler

Remove brake fluid reservoir from air-water duct and swivel out of working area

 To do so, disconnect electrical connection.

Remove cable duct for engine wiring harness

Remove fuel filter and swivel out of working area



Replace fuel filter

 Fuel hoses are not disassembled.

Disconnect electrical connection (13)

Remove support brace (2)

 To do this, remove screws/bolts (3).

Remove coolant hoses (4, 5, 6) from connection fitting (1)

 For this purpose open clamps.

Open clamp (8) on connection fitting (1) and push onto the coolant hose (7)

Remove screw/bolts (10)

Only for version "A" of the connection fitting (1).

Remove screw/bolts (12.1, 12.2)

Only for version "A" of the connection fitting (1).

Remove screw/bolts (24, 25, 26)

Only for version "B" of the connection fitting (1).

The screw/bolt (26) was replaced by the stud bolt with nut.

Remove connection fitting (1)

 To do this raise connection fitting (1) and remove out of coolant hose (7).



Check

Check clamp (8) and coolant hose (7) for damage

Depending on findings



Replace clamp (8) and coolant hose (7)

Check version of the connection fitting (1)

Only when replacing the connection fitting (1).

 Version "A" of the connection fitting (1) differs from version "B" of the connection fitting (1) in the number of fastening locations present. Use new connection fittings (1) according to the version.



Install

Install connection fitting (1)


Do not use lubricant or liquid seal.
Leaks and damage may occur otherwise.

 Always replace sealing ring (11) on connection fitting (1).

Screw in screw/bolts (10)

Only for version "A" of the connection fitting (1).

 Do not tighten screw/bolts (10) yet.

Screw in screws/bolts (12.1, 12.2)

Only for version "A" of the connection fitting (1).

 First tighten the screw/bolt (12.1), then tighten the screw/bolt (12.2).

Screw in screw/bolts (24, 25, 26)

Only for version "B" of the connection fitting (1).

 Screw in screw/bolts (24, 25, 26) and then tighten in the numerical sequence.

Tighten nut of the stud bolt after the screw/bolts (24, 25).

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
