6 | Remove chain tensioner (10)
7 | Remove front cover at cylinder head
8 | Remove upper slide rail
9 | Mark intake camshaft sprocket (5) relative to timing chain | For work that does not involve the rotation of the crankshaft, connect intake camshaft sprocket (5) and timing chain with cable tie.
10 | Unscrew exhaust camshaft sprocket (6) from exhaust camshaft (1) | Bolt, camshaft sprocket to exhaust camshaft
11 | Remove exhaust camshaft sprocket (6) | Take into account dowel pin (7) (arrow). Detach exhaust camshaft sprocket (6) with mounted timing chain.
12 | Unscrew camshaft bearing cap (8)
Topical note | Marking on camshaft bearing caps
Take into account camshaft bearing cap (8) marking!
13 | Remove intake camshaft (2) and exhaust camshaft (1)
| Install | ||
14 | Insert intake camshaft (2) and exhaust camshaft (1)
| |||
Installation: Oil bucket tappet and camshaft bearing points, check bucket tappet for ease of movement. Align intake and exhaust camshafts (1, 2) at axial bearing (arrows).
Observe camshaft assignment!

Warning | Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. | Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
25 | Check for oil leaks with engine running
Danger | Risk of explosion caused by fuel igniting. Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by fuel spraying out at high pressure | Keep all ignition sources out of hazard area.
26 | Check fuel system for leaks with engine running
27 | Read out fault memory and clear
| |||
Stored faults in the fault memories that could be caused by detached lines or a simulation during assembly or inspection work must be processed and cleared at the end of work. See
