Risk of injury to skin and eyes due to handling of engine oil. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing engine oil

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not fill engine oil into beverage containers.

Remove/install

Remove fuel injectors.

Remove pressure line from high-pressure pump to rail.

Disconnect electrical connector (9) of fuel pressure sensor.

Disconnect electrical connector (3).

Remove fuel line (4) .

 Collect escaping fuel, seal the fuel line (4).

Remove the vacuum pump.

Remove hose (5) from cylinder head cover (2).

 Installation: Replace sealing ring.

Remove bracket (6) from cylinder head cover (2).

 To do this, remove bolts (7).

Disconnect electrical connector (8).

Remove oil dipstick.

Remove timing chain.

Remove screws (1) on cylinder head cover (2).

 Installation: Observe tightening procedure for cylinder head cover (2) and note on pilot bushings.

Remove cylinder head cover (2).

Notes on sealant path for cylinder head cover

 Carefully pry off cylinder head cover (2) using a suitable tool.

 Installation: Apply sealant to cylinder head cover (2). Position pilot bushings on cylinder head.

Clean

Clean sealing surfaces on cylinder head.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
