Remove

Remove bracket together with poly-V belt tensioning device

Remove oil pan bottom section

Unscrew bolts (2, 3)

Pry off end cover (1) from cylinder crankcase

Remove fitting sleeves (5)

Remove radial shaft sealing ring (4) from end cover (1)

 Push out radial shaft sealing ring (4) with a screwdriver and use clean rag as a base. The contact surface of the radial shaft sealing ring (4) can get damaged otherwise.

Clean contact surfaces of radial shaft sealing ring (4) and the end cover (1)

 Do not use sharp-edged or pointed objects to clean sealing surfaces. The sealing surface can get damaged otherwise.



Install

Apply sealant to end cover (1)

Loctite 5970 sealant

Place end cover (1) on the cylinder crankcase, insert fitting sleeves (5) from outside into the end cover (1) and drive in using a suitable drift

 Fitting sleeves (5) must close off flush with the end cover (1).

Screw in bolts (2, 3)

 Pay attention to different lengths of bolts.



Check engine oil level, correct if necessary

 The engine oil level must not lie above the maximum marking. Engine damage may occur otherwise.


