The troubleshooting procedure in the event of problems with drive authorization system (DAS) or access authorization code has been revised.
The following procedure must now be adhered to for diagnosis:
Perform quick test
Then select the respective problem at the following point 1 or 2
1 In the event of problems with unlocking/locking the vehicle:
Run guided tests for two-way radio receiver
To do so, select following menu items: Control units view N73 - Electronic ignition lock (EZS) Tests The two-way radio receiver has a malfunction
This diagnosis work must be billed using the following operation items:
54 1011 Perform quick test
80 1491 Check infrared remote control of central locking system for proper operation, establish findings
80 1499 Check electrical system of infrared remote control (after check)
80 2618 Check transmitter key (after quick test)
2 In the event of problems with starting the engine:
Perform guided test of drive authorization system
To do so, select following menu item: Control units view N73 - Electronic ignition lock (EZS) Tests Guided tests of DAS
This diagnosis work must be billed using the following operation items:
54 1011 Perform quick test
80 0660 Check drive authorization system (after quick test)
80 0661 Check separate parts of DAS: .................... according to fault code
80 1516 Run test program for drive authorization system (DAS) (after diagnosis)
A guided test which ensures unambiguous determination of the defective assembly part is then performed. During these checks the components are tested in their functional relationship.
Do not replace any assembly part without performing a guided diagnosis first!
Ideally, for fast and correct diagnosis, both keys should be available. Therefore, when the customer arranges an appointment, ask him/her to bring both keys to the arranged repair appointment. If this is not possible, it is essential to observe the correct diagnostic path during diagnosis using XENTRY Diagnostics!
Always carry out diagnosis in full up to and including the note referring to the assembly part to be replaced.
Applied diagnosis steps are stored in the electronic ignition lock control unit (EZS) (N73) and the electric steering lock control unit (N26/5). When the assembly parts are inspected at the warranty claims department, the diagnosis steps taken by the workshop can be identified.
At the end of the respective test steps a note with the request to prepare a printout appears on the display.
It is essential to enclose this printout as well as the printout of the quick test with the assembly parts returned via the warranty channels.
During the warranty inspection we will be checking whether the parts have been justifiably removed, based on the diagnosis results. If this is not the case or if the diagnosis printouts are not included with the parts, we reserve the right to refuse any warranty claims.
The same applies when the requested assembly parts are not demonstrably forwarded to the warranty claims department.
All the components requested by the warranty claims department and cited in this document are to be returned.
The assembly parts are returned via the respective return shipment process for the market.
These assembly parts are explicitly excluded from the "Handling keys and other theft-relevant parts" circular.
