Operating central locking with transmitter key, function

7.5.08

MODEL 169.0 /3, 245.2 as of model year 09 /YoM 08 model refinement package

General function requirements

No valid transmitter key (A8/1) inserted into EIS control unit (N73)

Central locking (CL), operation with transmitter key, general

The CL can be operated with the transmitter key.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The operation of the transmitter key comprises the following partial functions:

Function sequence for presetting global and selective unlocking

Function sequence for locking or unlocking

Function sequence for visual feedback

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Function sequence for presetting global and selective unlocking

If the "Unlock" button and "Lock" button on the transmitter key is pressed simultaneously for t = 5 s, a change between "global" and "selective" settings takes place. The indicator lamp on the transmitter key comes on twice to confirm this change.

Globally unlocking:

The entire vehicle is unlocked by pressing the "Unlock" button on the transmitter key.

Selective unlocking:

Only the driver door and the fuel filler flap are unlocked when the "Unlock" button on the transmitter key is pressed once. The next actuation unlocks the entire vehicle.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Function sequence for locking or unlocking

When the "Lock" button or "Unlock" button the transmitter key is pressed, it transmits a radio signal to the central locking antenna (A2/34). The SAM control unit (N10) reads in this signal and relays it to the EIS control unit via the interior CAN.

On model 169.3 with code (583) Two front power windows with convenience feature as well as on model 169.0 and model 245.2 with code (584) Two rear power windows an infrared signal is transmitted parallel to the radio signal to the left front IR receiver (A26/1) (precise aiming required). This signal is read in by the left front door control unit (N69/1) and also transmitted to the EIS control unit via the interior CAN.

The EIS control unit checks the access authorization of the transmitter key. If the access authorization is valid, the EIS control unit transmits (according to the actuation) the "Lock" or "Unlock" command to the left front door control unit and right front door control unit (N69/2) as well as SAM control unit via the interior CAN.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The SAM control unit then directly actuates the fuel filler flap CL motor (M14/10) as well as on model 169.0 and model 245.2 without code (584) Two rear power windows left rear door CL motor (M14/8) and right rear door CL motor (M14/9). The left front door control unit actuates the left front door CL motor (M14/6) and the right front door control unit actuates the right front door CL motor (M14/5).

On model 169.0 and model 245.2 with code (584) Two rear power windows the "Lock" or "Unlock" command is transmitted additionally to the left rear door control unit (N69/3) and right rear door control unit (N69/4) via the interior CAN. .

They then actuate the left rear door CL motor and right rear door CL motor to unlock or lock the vehicle.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After locking the vehicle, the opening requests from the rear-end door unlock switch (S15/1) are inhibited.

An open driver door is not locked

After locking, the interior CL open switch (S20/1s13) and with code (460) Canada version CL open switch (S21/2s2) is deactivated. The interior CL close switch (S20/1s14) and with code (460) Canada version CL close switch (S21/2s3) remains activated.

If, after locking, the transmitter key is inserted into EIS control unit, the interior CL open switch is reactivated and the fuel filler flap unlocked.

The central locking (CL) is then in the same status as after locking the vehicle with the lock CL interior switch.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Function sequence for visual feedback

After locking and when the doors are closed, the

- left turn signal lamp (E1e5),

- right turn signal lamp (E2e5),

- left turn signal lamp (E3e1),

- right turn signal lamp (E4e1) and

are actuated by the SAM control unit.

Moreover,

- the left outside mirror turn signal lamp (E6/5)

by the left front door control unit and

- right outside mirror turn signal lamp (E6/6)

are actuated by the right front door control unit.

The function is controlled by the SAM control unit, transmitting the turn signal as blinkmaster with the interior CAN:

- Locking: flashes three times

- Unlocking: flashes once

Vehicles with code (551) Anti-theft alarm system (ATA):

If the driver door in the locked vehicle is opened mechanically with the emergency key, the anti-theft alarm system (ATA) triggers an alarm.
