General

To make it easier for the driver to get into and out of the vehicle, the driver's seat and the steering column are moved to the entry/exit position (the seat is moved backwards and the steering column is moved upwards). This process is controlled by the left front seat control module (N32/1).

Movement to the entry/exit position is triggered by changes in the status of the ignition key position and door contact as listed below.

Seat

The entry/exit position of the driver's seat is 60 mm behind the driving position.

The driver's seat can only be moved backwards a maximum of 170 mm behind the front stop. If the remaining range of adjustment is < 30 mm, the driver's seat is not moved.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following values can be changed in the left front seat control module (N32/1) by means of diagnosis:

The distance the seat is moved backwards to reach the entry/exit position (default: 60 mm behind the driving position)

The minimum distance remaining behind the driver's seat so that the seat can be moved automatically to the entry/exit position (default: 30 mm)

The size of the rear safety zone

The movement of the driver's seat to the entry/exit position can be deactivated in the left front seat control module (N32/1) by means of diagnosis.

If a position has not been stored then the driver's seat is not moved.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Steering column

The entry/exit position of the steering column is the highest possible position of the steering column.

Function requirements:

The driver's seat and steering column are not moved automatically until the easy entry/exit function is switched on in the instrument cluster. Undervoltage and abort conditions prevent the automatic adjustment to the entry/exit position.

Trigger conditions with ignition key/Keyless Go

If the terminal control is not activated by Keyless Go when

ignition key is withdrawn

driver's door opened and power to terminal 15R

driver's door opened and power to terminal 15C

driver's door opened with ignition key not in ignition

the movement of the driver's seat and steering column to the entry/exit position is activated by the left front seat control module (N32/1).

Abort conditions

All abort conditions are monitored by the left front seat control module (N32/1). If the entry/exit function is aborted, the left front seat control module (N32/1) sends a single message with a reset bit. The driver's seat adjustment and steering column adjustment are stopped.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If an abort condition stops the driver's seat and steering column adjustment, the easy entry/exit function is not reactivated if the input signal that triggered the abort regains its output value.

The easy entry/exit function is only reactivated when the trigger conditions are fulfilled again.

Interruption by the driver

The left front seat control module (N32/1) cancels the movement to the entry/exit position if the driver presses:

the seat adjustment switch

the steering column adjustment switch

a position key

Where easy entry/exit is aborted by the driver, the abort is canceled when the following state transitions are present:

No term. Term. 15C

Term. 15R Term. 15

Movement of the seat and steering column to the easy entry/exit position can only be restarted when a valid state transition for initiating easy entry/exit is reestablished.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Abort due to contrary state transitions

Movement of the driver's seat and steering column to the entry/exit position is aborted by the left front seat control module (N32/1) when the following ignition key position and door contact state transitions, which are contrary to the activation conditions, occur:

No term. Term. 15C

Term. 15C Term. 15R

Term. 15R Term. 15

Driver's door open Driver's door closed

Repeat limiter

Repeatedly inserting and removing the ignition key causes the system to oscillate between adopting the entry/exit position and the driving position. To prevent this, the number of cycles is limited to 5. The counter is reset when the driver turns the ignition key to Term 15R or when the status of the driver's door changes.

Abort by a configuration change

If the configuration is changed while the "move to entry/exit position" function is active, this function is aborted.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Abort due to error

The left front seat control module (N32/1)cancels the movement to the entry/exit position if the following errors occur:

Undervoltage (local)

Overvoltage (local)

Memory block number changed

Implausible memory block number

The movement is not aborted if the memory block number changes when the terminal status changes.

If these messages are received again after time-out the ignition key position status and door contact status received in these messages are accepted as the current status. The abort caused by the time-out is then canceled. Movement of the driver's seat and steering column to the entry/exit position is only possible again when the status of the ignition key position and door contact changes.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The left front seat control module (N32/1) cancels the movement of the driver's seat to the entry/exit position if the following errors occur:

Seat longitudinal adjustment is denormalized

Seat longitudinal adjustment position sensor (Hall sensor) is defective

The left front seat control module (N32/1) cancels the movement of the steering column to the entry/exit position if the following errors occur:

Steering column height adjustment position sensor (Hall sensor) is defective

Power-on

When the left front seat control module (N32/1) is switched on, relevant CAN messages are handled in the same way as if the messages time-out .

If these messages are received for the first time after power down the ignition key position status and door contact status received in these messages are accepted as the current status. The abort caused by the power-on is then canceled. Automatic movement of the driver's seat and steering column to the entry/exit position can only be restarted when the status of the ignition key position and door contact changes.
