Lockup recognition
Two Hall sensors are located at the steering column - one Hall sensor is located at the steering column in/out motor (M20m1) and the other is located at the steering column up/down motor (M20m2). The system detects that the steering column adjustment has locked up if the Hall sensors do not detect a change in the position of the steering column when the driver tries to move the steering column manually using the steering column adjustment switch (S59).
Lock-up protection
If the steering column in/out motor (M20m1) and/or the steering column up/down motor (M20m2)
is blocked during one of the adjusting functions triggered by the steering column adjustment switch (S59) or while setting to a stored position, the relevant motor is switched off after approx. 2.5 seconds.
A restart in the same direction of adjustment is only possible after the switch is released for more than 2.5 seconds.
Re-enabling in the opposite direction is possible immediately.
