General
With full air suspension, the axle load measuring system determines the relevant current axle load using pressure sensors in the air suspension bellows on the front and drive axle.
Using the axle load measuring system, the load on each axle and the total vehicle weight can be called up individually.
For this, the vehicle must be at driving level.
For 3axle vehicles with trailing/leading axle, no measurement is planned for the additional axle. The axle load of the additional axle is calculated based on measurements of the front and drive axle.
Preconditions
Circuit 15 is switched on.
The vehicle is stationary.
The vehicle is at driving level (normal level 1 or normal level 2).
The additional axle is lowered.
The starting-off aid function is switched off.
The traction aid function is switched off (with leading axle).
Operating principle
The current pressure in the air suspension bellows is continuously transmitted to the level control system control unit from the following sensors:
Front axle pressure sensor
Left drive axle pressure sensor
Right drive axle pressure sensor
The level control system control unit calculates the current load of the front axle, drive axle and the total vehicle weight from the pressure sensor signals based on parameterized characteristics.
The level control system control unit transmits the values to the instrument cluster control unit via the central gateway control unit.
The level control menu in the instrument cluster screen control unit can be called up using the finger navigation pad. There, the axle loads can be called up via the "Axles" menu item.
The axle loads are displayed with a certain degree of inaccuracy and can therefore be manually recalibrated. To do so, the axle load must be determined using a scale and entered via the instrument cluster screen control unit using the finger navigation pad.
On vehicles with code J6A (Classic cockpit), input is made via the instrument cluster (ICUC) control unit (A1) using the left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) and right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111).
