Overview
This document contains information on:
General
For transverse installation in vehicles with front wheel drive, a triple-shaft manual transmission is used.
The manual transmission is a fully synchronized triple-shaft transmission with six forward gears and one reverse gear. The gears 1, 2, 5 and 6 are shifted on the lower shaft. The gears 3,4 and reverse gear are shifted on the upper power output shaft. The gears 4 and 5 have a common fixed gear and the idler gears of gear 1 and reverse gear come together directly, so no reverse idler shaft is installed.
Higher shift comfort is provided by the following synchronizations:
Single cone synchronization
Double-cone synchronization
Multi-cone synchronization
The neutral position is detected for the start/stop function by sensing a magnet fastened to the main shifter shaft. In the same way, activation of the reversing light is triggered.
The manual transmission has the following features:
Gear selection transmitted by means of cables
Integrated bevel gear differential
Non-contact position detection of the main shifter shaft (reverse gear, neutral position)
Reversal of rotational direction without reversing gear
Hydraulically actuated central clutch release bearing for clutch operation
Non-contact position detection of the main shifter shaft (reverse gear, neutral position)
The manual transmission has the following advantages:
Compact design
Very high efficiency
Precise and easy shifting ability
Low driving noise
High reliability
Long service life
Low maintenance costs through lifetime filling
