Warning | Risk of injury. Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. | Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary.
Warning | Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Danger | Risk of death to implant wearers from working on retarder | As a safe distance from the retarder, a minimum distance of 100 cm is to be maintained between the retarder and the body parts of the affected person for people with implants.
Danger | Risk of death. There is a risk of death to persons located within the tilting range or underneath the raised dump body during operation. Risk of injury There is a risk of body parts being crushed or pinched when the dump body is lowered. | All persons must remain outside the tilting range of the dump body during its operation. Always secure the raised dump body with the dump body support before starting any work underneath it.

8 | Check position of propeller shaft flange (10) relative to retarder (1). | If the flattened side of the propeller shaft flange does not face toward the retarder (1),
| |||
turn the propeller shaft (10).
9 | Remove cable ties (17) of locking pressure line (16) from transmission (11).
10 | Detach locking pressure line (16) from retarder (1) and check sealing ring in quick-release coupling of locking pressure line (16) for damage. | Collect escaping coolant using suitable vessel.
Installation: Coat sealing ring with lubricant.
Lubricant, rubber assembly 1 l
If the sealing ring in the quick-release fastener of the locking pressure line (16) is damaged,
| |||
replace locking pressure line (16).
11 | Remove cable ties of electric line from retarder (1).
12 | Release and disconnect electrical connector (21) from retarder control unit (RCM) (A11).
13 | Disconnect connector coupling of compressed-air line (20) from retarder control unit (RCM) (A11) and place compressed-air line (20) to one side.
Vent compressed air at plug connection of compressed air line (20).
Installation: Only the compressed air connection system VOSS "232" may be used on the retarder control unit (RCM) (A11).
14 | Remove retarder control unit (RCM) (A11) from retarder (1). | Retarder control (RCM) control unit on retarder
15 | Remove clamps (22) of coolant pipes (7, 13) from holders. | Bolt, clamp for retarder coolant pipe to bracket
16 | Remove clamps (14) of coolant pipes (7, 13) from holder (15). | Bolt, clamp for retarder coolant pipe to bracket
17 | Remove holder (15) from transmission (11).
18 | Screw eyelet (3) with M10 thread at top into retarder (1) and secure with a shackle.
19 | Remove coolant hoses (8, 18) from coolant connection (9, 19). |
| |
Depending on accessibility, detach clamps for coolant hoses (8, 18) on either the retarder side or the line side.
Pliers | |||
20 | Remove screws (12) from retarder (1). | Collect and dispose of escaping coolant and transmission oil.
Bolt, retarder to transmission
21 | Detach retarder (1) from transmission (11) and lift out upwards. | Installation: When placing the retarder (1), turn the gear (4) if necessary.
22 | Remove sealing ring (2). | Installation: Moisten new sealing ring (2) with transmission oil and install free of twists.
23 | Replace retarder (1). | Only if a new retarder (1) is installed.
| Anticorrosion agent/antifreeze (specification 325.5) | ||
