Danger !

Risk of injury. Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary.

AS00.00-Z-0002-01A

Danger !

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

AS00.00-Z-0005-01A

Danger !

Risk of explosion caused by fuel igniting. Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by fuel spraying out at high pressure

Keep all ignition sources out of hazard area.
Do not carry out any work on system when it is pressurized.

AS07.16-Z-0001-01A

Determine loss of pressure at cylinder

AH01.00-N-1300-02A

Remove/install

1

Bring engine up to operating temperature (approx. 80°C)

Only check for cylinder leakage when the engine is at normal operating temperature.

2

Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key

3

Remove spark plugs

Replace spark plugs

AP15.10-S-1580CV

Danger !

Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

AS20.00-Z-0001-01A

4

Unscrew cap for coolant expansion reservoir

5

Position piston of cylinder to be checked to top dead center (ignition TDC)

Do not crank engine opposite to the direction of engine rotation.
Damage may and measurement errors can occur otherwise.

Crank engine at crankshaft center bolt in direction of engine rotation.
Commercially available tools
- cylinder leakage tester.

6

Screw cylinder leakage tester (04) into the spark plug bore

Use a suitable adapter (06) if necessary. Calibrate cylinder leakage tester (04) before beginning the testing; observe manufacturer details to do this.

Check

7

Pressurize cylinder with compressed air and read off pressure loss on cylinder leakage tester (04)
