1 Cap
Danger! | Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage bottles. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.
| Notes on coolant | All engines | |
| Inspect cooling and heating system for leaks and proper condition before replacing the coolant. | ||
1 | Open control valves of heating system | Turn steering lock into drive position and open regulating valves of the front, floor and roof heater units. After about 2 minutes, turn steering wheel lock into stop position.
2 | Take off cap of cooling system (1)
3 | Drain coolant | ||
| |||
The old coolant and the corrosion residues must be completely flushed out.
Use only the specified composition of coolant.
| Disposing of coolant | Pay attention to legal provisions and local waste water regulations! | |
4 | Switch on circulation pump | Turn steering lock into drive position.
5 | Replenish coolant | Pour in coolant up to the maximum marking
Danger! | Risk of accident as vehicle may start off by itself with the engine running. Risk of injury as working around the engine during start-up or while running may result in contusions and burns | Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving off by itself.
8 | Start engine and run for about 1 minute at varying speeds
9 | Switch off engine and top up coolant | Turn steering lock into drive position and allow circulation pump to continue running.
10 | Set temperature for front and floor heating to maximum heating capacity
11 | Warm up engine until thermostat opens | Switch on additional heater, if fitted, in order to more rapidly reach the necessary operating temperature.
12 | Switch off engine and allow to cool down
13 | Inspect coolant level, adjust to correct level if necessary | At approx. 50 °C.
