| Carry out the leaktightness check only when the engine cold | ||
1 | Engine cooling system - inspect fluid level, adjust to correct level | ||
2 | Open the shutoff and regulating valves of the heating system | ||

3 | Take off cap (1) of coolant expansion reservoir | ||
4 | Fit on tester | Fit on tester at coolant filler neck and connect compressed air line with tire inflation connection to valve (2). If necessary, the shaped hose of the coolant filler neck must be turned back in order to connect the tester. | |
5 | Build up test pressure | Test pressure equals the opening pressure of the cooling system which is recognizable from the code number of the cap or pressure relief valve. Code number 40=0.4 bar A safety valve with an opening pressure of 1.2 bar is integrated in the tester. | |
6 | Check radiator, coolant expansion tank, coolant pump, oil cooler and engine filler cap and heat exchangers of heating system and Voith retarder for leaks | If any damage or defects are found, repair or replace parts -subject to separate repair order | |
7 | Inspect all lines and hoses of the cooling and heating system for leaks, undamaged condition as well as routing and attachment free of chafing points | If any damage or defects are found, replace lines, route and attach to specification, if necessary - against separate order. | |
8 | Inspect radiator for outer soiling | Fins and intermediate spaces must not be blocked with dirt, if necessary | |
clean fins and intermediate space -subject to separate repair order | |||
9 | Disconnect the tester and fit on the cap | Release pressure in cooling and heating system at valve (2) of the tester and disconnect tester | |
10 | Close the shutoff and regulating valves of the heating system | Model 613 | |
