General
The barometer of the weather station must be set to the air pressure as per the information from the local weather service.
The measured output value must be corrected with correction factors.
A distinction is made between 2 correction factors:
Altitude correction factor
Output correction factor
Output correction formula N eo = N e x K H
N eo = Output based on normal operating conditions in kW.
N e = Output measured on dynamometer in kW.
K H = Correction for intake air temperature, barometer reading and altitude of respective test location.
Calculation example
1 Read off air pressure, altitude and intake air temperature of test location from weather station.
Example:
Air pressure of test location =955 hPa (mbar)
Altitude of test location = 400 m
Intake air temperature of test location =+20 °C
2 Output determined on dynamometer = 100 kW
3 When the altitude value of the test location = 400 m, the altitude correction value in the altitude correction table is 46 hPa (mbar).
4 Air pressure of test location minus altitude correction factor equals air pressure value (p):
955 hPa (mbar) – 46 hPa (mbar) = 909 hPa (mbar)
To use the air pressure (p) in the table, it has to be rounded. In this example to 910 hPa.
5 Based on the air pressure (p) = 910 hPa, we read off a correction factor (KH) of 1.0787 from the output correction table at an intake air temperature (t) of 20 °C.
6 The output based on normal operating conditions is calculated as follows:
N eo = N e x K H
N eo = 100 kW x 1.0787 = 108 kW
Output on test stand: Ne = 100 kW
Air pressure of test location: P = 955 hPa (955 mbar)
Intake air temperature of
test location: t =+20 °C
Altitude of test location: 400 m above sea level
Units: hPa = Hectopascal
1 hPa = 1 mbar
1 Pa = 0.01 mbar
