11 | Move reverse gear (4), as indicated by the arrow, against the transmission housing wall | ||
12 | Loosen screws (12) crosswise around the center section of transmission housing (6) | ||
13 | Install lifting eyes (5) and auxiliary device for suspending transmission housing | Lifting eyes | |
14 | Remove center housing from transmission (6) | Take care not to damage any contact surfaces on the housings. Use plastic tools only. Heat guide pin area on the transmission. Reverse gear (4) must be moved toward intermediate shaft bearing to allow transmission central housing removal. | |
15 | Remove reverse gear (4) with needle roller bearing and bushing from transmission central housing (6) | ||
16 | Remove tapered roller bearing outer races (9) and (10) | Use an appropriate drift pin. Tapered roller bearing outer races must be removed from inside. | |
Check carefully if there is any shim on tapered roller bearing outer race seat of the main shaft. If so, the same shim is to be used for reassembly (shim is used on modified housings only). | |||
| Installation | ||
17 | Mount tapered roller bearing outer races (9) and (10) against their corresponding stops | Use an appropriate drift pin to mount tapered roller bearing outer races from inside the transmission center housing (6). | |
If center housing is the modified version, mount the shim on the seat of the outer race of main shaft tapered roller bearing. | |||
Lubricate tapered roller bearings with multipurpose grease. | |||
18 | Install reverse gear (4) together with needle roller bearing and bushing | Check bearing and bushing for wear, replace as necessary. Move reverse gear (as indicated by the arrow) against transmission housing wall. The longer collar on the reverse gear must face the power output side. | |
19 | Mount center housing (6) on transmission front housing | Apply sealing agent to contact surfaces of both housings. During this operation pay attention to the following: Oil tubing (8) must slide in its guide. Reverse gear (4) must slide toward bearing side of intermediate shaft. Guide pins (7) must enter the guides uniformly. Use plastic tools only. | |
20 | Mount screws (12) first around the full perimeter of transmission center housing. After that, tighten the screws crosswise to specified torque | Pay attention to varying screw lengths. | |
21 | Center reverse gear (4) and install corresponding shaft (1) | Centralizer pin | |
22 | Install retaining plate (2) with screw (3) and tighten to specified torque | | |
23 | Align selector forks, mount support pins (11) | Use sealing agent for support pin mounting. | |
24 | Mount and tighten (threaded) support pins (11) | | |
