Remove the oil pump (6) and the adjusting shim (5)

Remove the threaded plug (10), the spring (11) and the locking pin (12)

 The threaded plug (10) is under tension of the spring (11)

Remove the interlock lock bar

 Vehicles with code (GS1 "manual" gearbox actuation and (GS3) hydraulic gearbox actuation.

Remove the bolts around the range group (1)

 With retarder code B29, remove the remaining bolts and nut through the retarder's opening. Attention to the different bolt lengths.



Assemble an adequate lifting tool at the lifting loops at the rear part of the range group (1) case

Remove the range group (1)

 Do not damage the sealing surfaces of the components.

Utilize only synthetic material tools.

 Heat up the rear part of the range group (1) in the area of the guide pins to facilitate removal.

Remove the snap-ring (14) and remove the sun gear (15)

Remove the sealing rings (13) and (17)

Remove the guide bushing (18)

Installing

Install the guide bushing (18)

Install new sealing rings (13) and (17)

Install the sun gear (15) and the snap-ring (14)

 Assemble the sun gear (15) so that the groove and the oil channel coincide. The short part must point to the power take-off.

Install the range group (1) in the gearbox rear part

 Apply sealing compound on the mating surfaces.

 Install and tighten the guide pins of own manufacture in the gearbox center part. Heat up the rear part of the range group (1) case in the area of the guide pins.

Install and tighten the bolts around the range group (1)

 With retarder code B29, install and tighten the remaining bolts and nut through the retarder's opening. Attention to the different bolt lengths.



Insert the selected adjusting shim (5) and install the oil pump (6)

 Observe the assembly position of the fastening pin.

Install the closing plug (3)

 Apply adhesive compound on the closing plug (3).

Insert the locking pin for the interlock (12), place the spring (11), install and tighten the threaded plug (10)



Install the closing cover (8) with a new sealing gasket (7)

 The shaft of the closing cover (8) will have to fit in the oil pump (6).
