Remove/install

Remove check valve at charge air line.

Remove heat shield of exhaust gas turbocharger (3).

 Nut, heat shield to exhaust gas turbocharger

Release right line of inerting system and place to one side.

Drain off coolant.

 Installation: Only install lower engine compartment linings after leak test.

Remove screws (1, 2), remove coolant return line (5) from exhaust gas turbocharger (3) and seal openings with suitable stop plugs.

 Installation: Replace O-ring.

 Screw, water feed line/return line to exhaust gas turbocharger/crankcase/cylinder head

Remove screw (4), remove coolant return line (5) upwards and seal openings with suitable stop plugs.

 Installation: Replace O-ring.

Install in the reverse order.

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Carry out engine test run and check engine for proper leaktightness and leaktightness.
