Pour in coolant and bleed engine cooling system

Warning

Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Do not add any sealant to the coolant.
The cooler sealant can clog the cooling ducts in the engine and cooler.

1

Attach tester cap (1) to the coolant expansion reservoir (10).

2

Attach control unit (2) to the tester cap (1).

3

Attach venturi nozzle (3) to the control unit (2).

4

Close feed valve (4) and drain valve (5).

5

Pour coolant in the right mixing ratio into the coolant reservoir (7)   .

Make sure that there is more coolant in the coolant reservoir (7) than the engine cooling system's maximum filling capacity.
Otherwise, air will end up in the engine cooling system.

6

Attach feed hose (6) to the coolant reservoir (7).

7

Connect waste air hose (8) to a suitable empty receptacle (11).

8

Connect compressed-air hose (9) to the venturi nozzle (3) and apply compressed air from the compressed air system of the workshop.

A vacuum is created in the engine cooling system.

9

Open drain valve (5).

10

Open feed valve (4) for a short time until the feed hose (6) is filled with coolant. Then, close the feed valve (4).

The vacuum sucks the coolant out of the coolant reservoir (7).

Check

11

Close drain valve (5) as soon as the indicator of the control unit (2) is in the green area.

12

Disconnect compressed-air hose (9) from the venturi nozzle (3).

13

Based on the control unit (2), check whether the vacuum in the engine cooling system remains stable for approx. 30 s.

If the vacuum decreases:

check the engine cooling system for leak tightness, repair according to findings, and repeat vacuum test.

Filling

14

Open feed valve (4).

The coolant now flows out of the coolant reservoir (7) into the engine cooling system.

15

Open drain valve (5) as soon as no more coolant flows into the engine cooling system.

The remaining vacuum decreases.

16

Remove vacuum-type cooling system filler and tester cap (1).

17

Correct coolant level in the coolant expansion reservoir (10).
