1 | Mount turning device (4) and block by inserting the pin. | ||

2 | Pull crankshaft position sensor (6) out of timing case (5). | Do not disconnect electrical connector. | |
3 | Remove two opposing screws (1). | Screwdriver bit | |
4 | Screw centering pins (3) into threaded holes. | Alignment punch | |
5 | Screw in remaining screws (1). | Screwdriver bit | |
6 | Remove flywheel (2) over centering pins (3). | If the flywheel (2) is firmly seated: | |

Screw two screws (M8x80 or M10x80) into opposite threaded holes of flywheel (2) and pull off flywheel (2). | |||
7 | Remove two screws (M8x80 or M10x80) from threaded holes of flywheel (2). | Only if these were screwed in to pull off flywheel (2). | |

8 | Check friction surface on flywheel (2) for scorch marks, score marks or cracks. | If scorch marks, score marks or cracks are present: | |

Rework flywheel (2) or replace flywheel (2). | |||
9 | Check flange on flywheel (2) for galling caused by radial shaft sealing ring. | If galling is detected: | |

Replace rear radial shaft sealing ring and flywheel (2). | |||
10 | Check ring gear on flywheel (2) for wear. | If wear is present: | |

Replace ring gear for flywheel (2) or replace flywheel (2). | |||
11 | Check guide bearing in flywheel (2) for damage and wear. | If damage or wear is present: | |

Replace guide bearing in flywheel (2). | |||
12 | Measure shank length (L) of screws (1). | Flywheel bolts | |
If permissible shank length (L) is exceeded: | |||

Replace the affected screw (1). | |||
| Install | ||
13 | Install flywheel (2) over centering pins (3) | Observe installation position of the dowel pin in the crankshaft. | |

14 | Wet screws (1) with engine oil and screw in. | Do not tighten screws (1) yet. | |
15 | Remove centering pins (3). | ||
16 | Wet remaining two screws (1) with engine oil and screw in. | ||
17 | Tighten all screws (1). | Bolt, flywheel to crankshaft | |

18 | Remove turning device (4) from timing case (5). | ||
Inspection hole cap to timing case | |||
19 | Check bushing for crankshaft position sensor (6) for damage. | If damage is present: | |

Replace bush. | |||
20 | Push crankshaft position sensor (6) all the way into timing case (5). |
