We would like to inform you that with European implementing order (EU) 2017/78 the manufacturer is obliged to allow the customer to choose between the Mercedes-Benz emergency call system and the European emergency call phone number 112.
After changing the Mercedes-Benz emergency call system to the European emergency call telephone number 112, no Mercedes me connect services are then available, as the vehicle's own communication module is in the legally required offline mode.
In the case of manual or automatic triggering of the emergency call system, the communications module must connect to an available network in order to then establish the emergency call.
The following services are nonfunctional because of the change from the Mercedes-Benz emergency call system to the European emergency call telephone number 112:
Live Traffic
Mercedes me Call
Mercedes me connect services
All other services/functions that require an active cellular telephone system connection through the vehicle's own communication module
The change from the Mercedes-Benz emergency call system to the European emergency call telephone number 112 is to be invoiced directly to the customer as a customer request.
The entire procedure must be documented accordingly in a tamperproof manner.
After informing the customer about the effects of the change of the emergency call telephone number, the form OF82.95-P-3000-07A must be filled out and signed by the workshop and the customer together, and then sent to the MPC per TIPS case for documentation in a tamperproof manner.
