The illustrated damage profiles (stone marks in front window) can be repaired satisfactorily and economically using this repair method . A repair set is required for repairs. The repair method is permitted by law within Germany (for all other countries the legally approved repair methods of each country apply), however only at those points on the windshield which are outside the long-range field of vision of the driver.
Before repairing damaged windshields, please be sure to always observe the following information.
P67.10-2037-05
After the repair a visible point with a size of ca. 2 mm diameter remains.
Only damage on the outside window surface may be repaired.
Damages to the inside of the windshield or to the plastic laminate are not permitted.
Ensure that moisture has not penetrated into the damaged point (seal damage point immediately after damage using adhesive tape and repair it as soon as possible).
The diameter of the chip should not exceeded 5 mm.
Any radial cracks extending from the point of impact should not exceed 50 mm. They should not end at the rubber window seal and never extend to the outer edge of the window.
In general, it is not advisable to perform repairs within an area of 100 mm from the window frame (black screen printing) on bonded windows, because increased tension can occur in this area and repairs are therefore only possible to a limited extent.
Any work on the field of vision (B) is prohibited by law. This is considered to be a 290 mm (c) wide strip parallel to the central plane of the vehicle longitudinal axis, starting from the centre of the steering wheel (i.e. 145 mm to the left and 145 mm to the right), which is delimited at the upper and lower edge by the wiper field (A). The general conditions which apply to the repair of laminated glass windshields are set out in the "Conditions for the repair of laminated glass windshields", as published by the Federal Ministry of Traffic, Construction and Urban Development in traffic regulation bulletin 1986, P. 130. According to this document, modifications/repairs to the field of vision (B) are prohibited.
