Service Information: Filling foam

 We hereby inform you that all repair foams (replacement part soundproofings) are replaced by full foam.

By reason of the low turnover of the different repair foams and the resultant increased costs for handling, development and logistics it has been agreed to discontinue supplying the markets with these parts.

The filling foam has been checked and approved. This is a 2-K acoustic filling foam for sealing vehicle cavities.

The filling foam can be introduced through existing holes (openings).

The following preconditions must be guaranteed when using filling foam:

 The surface must be protected against corrosion, i.e. Catholic dip painting coated or paintwork structure.

 The surface must be clean, free from grease, oil, mold release agent and other substances which impair the adhesion of foam to the surface.
Exception: In the area of points which are not protected against corrosion (e.g. weld seam) a partial preservation before introducing the foam is required.

 An additional cavity sealing with wax is possible after anchor.

 Subsequent operations in the area of the foam-protected cavities which produce an increased thermal load (e.g. welding, tinning) are not permissible.

 The usability of the cavity or the vehicle must be guaranteed after foaming. In addition the foam-protected area must be investigated for distinguishing marks.

 The escape of foam in visible areas after introducing and subsequent curing (Expansion 100...200%) should be prevented by suitable measures (e.g. masking off breakthroughs).

The soundproofings remaining in the vehicle or the soundproofings from removed parts can also be reinstalled with sealant as an alternative to using the full foam A 001 989 63 20.
