SI47.20-P-0002B | Service Information: Fuel filter for countries with lower fuel grade | 19.1.07 |
ENGINE 266 in MODEL 169.031 /032 /033 /034 /331 /332 /333 /334, 245.231 /232 /233 /234
Due to recent events we would hereby again like to point out the possibility of parts retrofitting. See also SI47.20-P-0002A.
Due to the design on model 169, 245 no body opening is present in order to carry out the removal/installation of the fuel feed module (combined pump/filter module) via the vehicle interior. In order to meet the special market requirements of countries with low fuel grade (preventative fuel filter replacement intervals), a replacement part solution has therefore been worked out. After a single conversion the wages and material costs can be reduced by approx. 80 % for a further filter change. Otherwise in each case the installation and removal of the fuel tank as well as a replacement of the complete series production fuel feed module is required.
The corresponding parts are documented in the EPC in group 99 "Special installed parts" under 080 "Fuel filter for countries with poor fuel".
A single exchange of the series production fuel feed module (with integrated paper fine filter) with the conversion fuel feed module (without fine filter) is not sufficient.
It is absolutely essential to also install the additional outboard expendable filter (conversion kit). Otherwise no filtration of dirt particles exists which may lead to subsequent complaints about the fuel system and the engine.
