1 Turn in the stop bolt (4) fully.
2 Inspect distance (a = 182 mm) between the two ball sockets of the governor lever - double lever linkage (3), adjust if necessary:
- Detach ball joint of piston rod of operating cylinder of emergency running device (6) at double lever (5).
- Detach linkage of governor lever - double lever (3) at governor lever (9) and adjust length by turning the ball sockets.
- Attach linkage of governor lever - double lever (3).
- Adjust length of piston rod of operating cylinder of emergency running device (6) and attach ball joint of piston rod of operating cylinder of emergency running device (6) at double lever (5) and lock.
2 Place a straightedge along the contact surface between crankcase and timing case.
The straightedge serves as an "initial plane" for the following measurement (step 3) for determining the position of the double lever (5).
3 Inspect dimension b = 88 mm from straightedge to middle of ball head. Adjust, if necessary, by altering length of linkage (3).
4 Use a feeler gage to set a play of s = 2 mm at the stop bolt (4) and secure.
5 Turn out stop bolt (7) as far as possible, but not out of its locknut.
6 Switch on electrical system and start engine.
7 Operate emergency mode switch and in this way admit air to emergency running device operating cylinder (6).
8 Turn in stop bolt (7) in steps each of half a turn. After each half turn, wait a few seconds and check engine speed. Repeat this procedure as often as necessary until the point is reached at which the engine increases uncontrollably (breakaway point).
9 Switch off engine and switch off electrical system and emergency running device.
10 Turn in stop bolt (7) a further 2 turns.
Turning in the stop bolt an additional 2 turns ensures that the breakaway point of the engine is always exceeded and that the vehicle can be moved at a reasonable speed.
11 Affix an anti-tamper seal to emergency mode switch.
