Modification notes
Bleeding | |||
Danger! | Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes. | Pour brake fluid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid.
| Brake fluid notes | ||
1 | Place transmission in neutral | The transmission must remain in neutral for the entire duration of the bleeding operation.
2 | Unscrew bleeder valves (2 and 4) and check for signs of damage or deformation to cone and then clean | If necessary install new bleeder valves.
3 | Screw in bleeder valves (2 and 4)
4 | Connect transparent bleeder hose from brake fluid change/bleeder unit to vent (9) behind front flap. | For bleeding a bleeder unit with a head pressure of at least 2.5 to max. 3.0 bar is required. The flow rate on the vehicle should be 20 to 30 l/h (this corresponds to approx. 1l/120 to 180 s). If an incorrect bleeder unit is used, malfunctions in the hydraulic system or damage to the expansion reservoir may occur.
| |||
5 | Connect brake fluid change/bleeder unit on bleeder valve (2) of gear shift cylinder (6) and on bleeder valve (4) of gate shift cylinder (7) | Observe operating instructions from equipment manufacturer.
| |||
6 | Open bleed screw (1) and bleeder valve (2) of gear shift cylinder (6) as well as bleed screw (3) and bleeder valve (4) of gate shift cylinder (7) by one turn, and switch on the brake fluid change/bleeder unit
7 | Slowly move the gearshift lever in the 3rd/4th gear gate several times (a minimum of 8 times) forward and backward up to the mechanical stop | Purge the hydraulic circuit until the brake fluid escapes free of bubbles. Hold on the limit stop for approx. 10 seconds then switch to the opposite limit stop and hold again for approx.
8 | Move the gearshift lever from the neutral position several times (a minimum of 8 times) slowly from right to left up to the mechanical stop | Purge the hydraulic circuit until the brake fluid escapes free of bubbles. Hold on the limit stop for approx. 10 seconds then switch to the opposite limit stop and hold again for approx.
9 | Place shift lever in neutral
10 | Close bleed screw (1) and bleeder valve (2) of gear shift cylinder (6) as well as bleed screw (3) and bleeder valve (4) of gate shift cylinder (7), and switch off the brake fluid change/bleeder unit
| |||
11 | Shift through gears several times | Gears: Move gearshift lever in quick succession backwards and forwards a minimum of 10 times. Gate: Move the gearshift lever to the right and left a minimum of 10 times. This allows the shift mechanism to center itself. If shift travel is imprecise (stops too soft), then the shift mechanism must be bled again.
12 | Perform a function test | Shift through all gears,
Repeat bleeding (as of operation step 7).
13 | Disconnect brake fluid change/bleeder unit from bleeder valves (2, 4) and mount protective caps
Danger! | Risk of injury caused by being caught or pinched as cab is tilted | Ensure that no one is within the tilting range of the cab as it is being tilted. Always tilt the cab all the way to the end position and secure with the safety strut.
14 | Tilt cab | ||
| Notes on tilting the cab | ||
15 | Correct brake fluid level in expansion reservoir (8) (arrow)
Danger! | Risk of injury caused by being caught or pinched as cab is tilted | Ensure that no one is within the tilting range of the cab as it is being tilted. Always tilt the cab all the way to the end position and secure with the safety strut.
16 | Tilt cab back | ||
| Notes on tilting the cab | ||
17 | Detach transparent breather hose from brake fluid change/bleeder unit to bleeder (9)
18 | Inspect gearshift system for leaks |
