Modification notes
| Remove/install | ||
Danger! | Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
| Notes on coolant | ||
| Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts | ||
1 | Switch off ignition | ||
2 | Open front flap | ||
3 | Remove front grille | Only on vehicles with code (H03) air conditioning in front end.
4 | Remove paneling (20) | Only on vehicles with code (H03) air conditioning in front end.
Danger! | Risk of injury caused by body parts being pinched or crushed as cab is tilted | Ensure that no one is within the tilting range of the cab as it is being tilted. Always tilt the cab all the way to the end position and secure with the safety strut.
5 | Tilt cab | ||
| Notes on tilting the cab | ||
6 | Remove soundproofing on frame at top left, right and below
7 | Remove bracket (4) together with refrigerant lines (3) at radiator (1) and tie up | Only on vehicles with code (H03) air conditioning in front end. Do not disconnect refrigerant lines (3).
8 | Detach condenser (19) of air conditioning at charge air cooler (16) | Only on vehicles with code (H03) air conditioning in front end. Do not disconnect refrigerant lines (3). Connect condenser (19) at front cab mounting.
9 | Drain coolant | ||
10 | Detach hydraulic lines on telescopic rod (26) | Only for vehicles with code (GS1) "Manual" gearshift.
Counterhold the elbow fitting when unscrewing hydraulic lines.
11 | Remove the telescopic rod (26) at the gearshift lever, collapse and tie back | Only for vehicles with code (GS1) "Manual" gearshift.
Installation: Pay attention to installation position of Silentblock bearing (27), spacer sleeve (28) and washers (29). The heel (arrow) must point towards the silentblock bearing (27) for both discs (29).
Grease the silentblock bearing (27) and the spacer sleeve (28).
The tightening torque must be strictly observed otherwise the shift mechanism becomes stiff and may skip gears.
| |||
12 | Disconnect hydraulic-pneumatic power shift lines (HPS) at engine | Only vehicles with code (GS3) "Hydraulic" gearshift.
13 | Remove red charge air hose (9) and black charge air hose (10) | Installation: The red charge air hose (9) and the black charge air hose (10) must not be interchanged.
| |||
14 | Remove oil filler pipe (12) at radiator (1) and tie up at the engine
15 | Disconnect electrical line (5) from coolant level switch (B6)
16 | Detach electrical line (5) from coolant expansion reservoir (2) and from coolant hose and tie up on engine
17 | Remove coolant hoses (6, 7, 8, 11, 17, 18) and coolant hose at coolant line (23)
18 | Separate the transmission oil lines (13) at connecting points (14) | Only vehicles with code (N55) transmission oil cooling.
Only disconnect transmission oil lines (13) on connecting points (14). If transmission oil lines (13) are removed at the oil cooler, the oil cooler can be damaged.
Collect any transmission oil that runs out and seal openings with stop plugs.
19 | Unscrew bolt at radiator (1) bracket (24) on the right and remove bracket (24)
20 | Remove bolts at radiator mounting (15) on the right and left
21 | Attach removal and installation tools onto radiator (1)
Removal and installation tool for radiator, Company BlitzRotary GmbH D-78199 Bräunlingen
22 | Lift out the radiator (1) with charge air cooler (16) upwards
23 | Install in the reverse order
24 | Check transmission oil level and top up if necessary. | Only vehicles with code (N55) transmission oil cooling. Observe set oil quality in the maintenance system or Specifications for Operating Fluids.
