Danger! | Risk of injury caused by body parts being pinched or crushed as cab is tilted | Ensure that no one is within the tilting range of the cab as it is being tilted. Always tilt the cab all the way to the end position and secure with the safety strut.
1.1 | Tilt cab | Model 673, 674, 676
| Notes on tilting the cab | ||
1.2 | Remove service cover | Model 668, 670
2 | Remove right soundproofing on frame | Only on models 673, 674, 676
3 | Remove intake hose | Only models 668, 670
4 | Unscrew oil filter cover (1.1) from oil filter housing (1) | Engine oil runs from the oil filter housing (1) back into the oil pan after removing the oil filter cover (1.1).
Installation: Install new sealing ring (1.3).
| |||
5 | Unclip engine wiring harness (7) and remove oil pressure sensor (B12) | Counterhold screw plug (5), collect engine oil that flows out.
Installation: Replace seal (6).
| |||
6 | Remove screw plug (5) | The screw plug (5) is pushed out by the spring (3).
Installation: Install new sealing ring (4).
| |||
7 | Take out spring (3) and oil filter bypass valve (2) and inspect for damage | Installation: Check that the oil filter bypass valve (2) is correctly seated in the oil filter housing (1); install spring (3) for this purpose. In the installed condition the spring (3) must project out about 1 cm at the oil filter housing (1). Replace spring (3) and oil filter bypass valve (2).

Danger! | Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running | Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
9 | Start engine and observe oil pressure gauge with the engine idling | Crank engine with the starter for not more than 90 seconds. Repeat starting procedure after a break of approx. 2 minutes at the earliest.
10 | Switch off engine and check for leaks
11 | Check engine oil level using oil dipstick or on display, correct if necessary | Observe engine oil grade set in maintenance system or Specifications for Operating Fluids. |
