Modification notes
| Remove/install | ||
Danger! | Risk of burn injuries and scalding when working at AdBlue lines and the components attached to them. Risk of injury to skin and eyes when handling AdBlue. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing AdBlue | Pour AdBlue into suitable containers only. Wait until the pressure is released before starting any work on the exhaust aftertreatment system.
| Notes on use, material properties and handling of AdBlue® | ||
1 | Open maintenance flap
2 | Switch off ignition | ||
Danger! | Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
3 | Release pressure in coolant circuit
| Notes on coolant | ||
4 | Clamp off coolant lines at coolant line fittings (5, 6) using clamping devices
5 | Remove coolant lines from coolant line fittings (5, 6) | Mark coolant lines relative to coolant line fittings (5, 6). Collect coolant in clean container.
Installation: Replace O-rings. Observe identification of coolant lines relative to coolant line fittings (5, 6). Pour caught coolant back into coolant circuit after installing pump module (8).
6 | Disconnect electrical connector (7) on pump module (8) | The disconnected electrical connector (7) must not come into contact with AdBlue. This could cause damage in the wiring harness and the SCR frame module control unit.
7 | Check electrical wiring harness
8 | Remove compressed air connector (4) at pump module (8)
9 | Open insulating tubing in area of AdBlue line fittings (2, 3) to a length of about 20 cm and push back
10 | Open insulating tubing in area of AdBlue line fitting (1) to a length of about 10 cm and push back
11 | Clamp off AdBlue line using a clamping device and remove at AdBlue line fitting (1)
12 | Clamp off AdBlue lines using clamping devices and remove at AdBlue line fittings (2, 3) | Mark AdBlue lines to AdBlue line fittings (2, 3).
Installation: Replace O-rings. Observe identification of AdBlue lines relative to AdBlue line fittings (2, 3).
| |||
| Pump module altered | ||
13 | Remove pump module (8)
| Pump module altered | ||
14 | Install in the reverse order
15 | Fill pressure reservoir for pump module | Only if the pump module is replaced.
| Fill AdBlue pressure reservoir | ||
Danger! | Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running | Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
16 | Start engine | ||
17 | Inspecting cooling system for leaks
18 | Check coolant level, correct if necessary
| Engine cooling system - check fluid level, adjust to correct level. Inspect anticorrosion/antifreeze protection, adjust to correct concentration |
