Each driven axle is filled at the factory with the required oil quantity. The specified required oil quantity has taken the technical facts, e.g. different gear wheel diameters in the differential with various gear ratios into account. The required oil quantity and the installation position of the axle in the vehicle determine the level of the oil in each axle.

The oil level of the driven axles in new vehicle must not necessarily reach the lower edge of the filler/inspection opening. When checking the oil on these vehicles an oil level of up to 25 mm below the lower edge of the filler/inspection opening is OK. With this the lubrication is always fully guaranteed and a refill is not required.

In future any warranty claims received for correcting the oil level based on this information will be rejected. The overflow method is to remain in use for maintenance services or following an axle repair.
