Component parts added for redocumentation.

Table entry.

Definition of safety-relevant component parts:

Component parts or systems are safety-relevant when a defect or failure of those parts or systems could result in an immediate danger to life and limb for road users.

Safety-relevant component parts could affect the operational safety of the vehicle.

Possible criteria for safety functions:

Occupant protection system in accidents

Avoidance of any instantaneous loss of road visibility

Avoidance of any loss of steerability

Avoidance of any loss or partial failure of braking function

Avoidance of any failure in drive function

Avoidance of any uncontrolled drive

Avoidance of any sudden failure of driving power

Avoidance of any leakage of operating fluids/fire hazard

Avoidance of cargo / trailers / components working their way loose

Avoidance of any injuries during operation and other operation of vehicle

Based on these criteria and other aspects to be assessed, it falls within the purview of Development to decide whether systems, component parts or components are classified as potentially safety-relevant and, where applicable, whether they are also classified as safety-relevant in VeDoc. If this is the case, the following listed VeDoc data are to also be redocumented in After Sales too.

Handling of: safety-relevant component parts

Certain specifications apply for safety-relevant component parts in terms of redocumentation requirements for any replacements made when performing a repair.

The document "Update of VeDoc data in After-Sales (redocumentation)" (https://xentryportal.i.daimler.com/wps/portal) describes the relevant specifications.

This document can be viewed in the XENTRY Portal in the area of Maintenance & Repair  VeDoc  Training & Support  User Documentation  Information on updating VeDoc data.

As-built configuration documentation on: safety-relevant component parts

The component parts listed in the table must be redocumented in the VeDoc system in the event of a replacement.
