1 Insert differential with removal device into rear axle housing.
2 Insert bearing bracket (20) and tighten bolts by hand.
Observe markings on bearing bracket. The arrows cast on the bearing bracket (arrow) must always point towards the outside with the recesses facing the crown wheel.

3 Detach removal device.
4 Recut threads and blow out bore holes with compressed air.
5 Tighten crown wheel bolts .
Replace crown wheel bolts.
Use retainer wrench for tightening.

6 Position gauge stand (01) with dial gauge (02) on axle housing.
7 Spin crown wheel several times.
8 Position dial gauge probe on one tooth on the crown wheel with preload and determine gear backlash.
9 To set the specified value, screw the threaded rings in or out using the hook wrench .
10 Determine gear backlash at two more teeth and correct the setting if necessary.

11 Tighten retaining bolts for bearing bracket .
12 Spin crown wheel several times and again determine the gear backlash at three teeth on the crown wheel.

13 Measure friction torque of differential housing bearing (preload) at drive pinion using (02) and correct the setting if necessary after slackening the bearing bracket bolts beforehand.
Perform measurement at approx. 1/sec.

14 Install and tighten locking bars on adjusting rings .
Caution: risk of mixing up! Ensure bolts of correct length (M8x13 mm) are used. The bolts of the housing cover only differ from those of the bearing bracket locking device due to the slightly different length. When using longer bolts on the bearing bracket the bearing outer race of the bearing underneath may break.
