Removing

Checking

Clean cylinder head (1)

Check contact surface for cylinder head (1).

 Check for:

- damage,

- corrosion,

- diagonally for flatness.

Measure variation of parallelism of top to bottom contact surface

Measure total height of cylinder head (H)

 If the height measured is less than the permissible minimum height: replace cylinder head (1).

Machining

Face-grind contact surface for cylinder head (1) (on the combustion chamber side)

 The surface quality of the contact surface must be maintained.

 Only face grind the contact surface of the cylinder head (1) if there is an impermissible deviation measures in the flatness in the longitudinal direction or there are porous, damaged points present.

 The permissible total height (H) must not be undershot through stock removal on the cylinder head.

 The variation of parallelism of the top to the bottom contact surface must not be less than the specified value.

Clean cylinder head (1)



Measure

Measure valve setback (B) to cylinder head (1)

 To do this push inlet (2) and exhaust valves (3) into the cylinder head (1).
