Remove/install valve springs

 using a valve lifter and additional piece.

Remove valve stem seal (9)

 Installation: Install new valve stem seals.

Turn cylinder head (5) and remove valves (6, 7)

 Mark valves.

 Installation: Oil valve stems with engine oil. Note markings on valves.



Checking

Inspect valve guides


The surface of the valve guides must not be damaged.

Replace valve guide if necessary.

Check the valve seat rings

 If valve seat is only slightly worn, it can be reworked without replacing valve seat ring; otherwise the damaged valve seat ring must be replaced:

Fit new valve seat rings.

Test valve springs
