Location
The fuel tank, manufactured in sheet steel, is located at the front in the trunk above the rear axle.
Function
A fuel strainer (coarse filter) is installed at the feed to the fuel pump.
The fuel is pumped by the fuel pump via a fuel line to the fuel filter with the fuel pressure regulator.
The filtered fuel (with controlled fuel pressure) is passed from the fuel pressure regulator to the engine (single line system).
Excess fuel is returned from the fuel pressure regulator to the swirl pot in the fuel tank and from here, supplies a suction jet pump. This means the swirl pot is always filled with sufficient fuel. While cornering when the fuel level is low, the swirl pot prevents the fuel pump from drawing air.
A vent line leads from the air admission system in the fuel tank to the activated charcoal canister.
The signal from the fuel level sensor is transmitted to the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module, which processes the signal accordingly and transmits it via CAN databus to the instrument cluster.
