Remove trim from center piece in front of the windshield (1).

Lower a side window in front door.

Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key.

Remove trim from A-pillars.

Disconnect electrical connector (5) at humidity sensor/light sensor/rain sensor (6).

Remove screw/bolts (3).

Disconnect electrical connector (8) at FM 2, DAB antenna amplifier (A2/19).

 Warning

Risk of injury from cutting wire tearing or becoming hot and from splinters of glass when cutting out bonded windows

Wear protective gloves and safety glasses.

Cut out windshield (1) with windshield removal tool.

Carefully cut out windshield (1). Lift adjacent components (e.g. headliner (2)) when cutting out.
Otherwise the components can be damaged.

 Commercially available devices/tools
Window cutter
Cup suction tool/shackle (for removing and installing windows)

 Punch pipe probe for cutting wire through adhesive seam at easily accessible point.



Clean

Remove residual adhesive material at body flange.

 Cut residual adhesive down to approx. 1 mm and remove loose adhesive material.

Suction off glass splinters and contamination.

 Commercially available devices/tools
Wet and dry vacuum cleaner



Install

Apply primer to primed surface on body flange.

Do not apply primer on top of residual adhesive.
Otherwise, the adhesive effect will be impaired.

Replace rubber window spacers (9).

 Observe correct positioning.

Prepare adhesive cartridge.

Attach two cup suction tools to outside of windshield (1).

 Commercially available devices/tools
Cup suction tool/shackle (for removing and installing windows)

Mount, align and center windshield (1) on rubber window spacers (9) at body flange.

 Align windshield (1) to that the distance (b) is equal on left and right.
Have second person help.

Affix suitable tape strips to roof edge and windshield (1), then cut through tape strips at edge of windshield (1).

 Marks installation position. Facilitates gluing in later.
Have second person help.

Remove windshield (1).

 Have second person help.

Prepare windshield (1) for installation.

Position windshield (1), align, press on, and secure against moving with suitable tape.

 Have second person help.
Observe marked distances. Observe curing time of adhesive material.
