Drain off coolant.

Remove the alternator (G2).

Remove heat shield at exhaust gas turbocharger.

Remove lambda sensor downstream of catalytic converter (G3/1).

Remove screws (1, 2), remove oil return feed line (3) and seal openings with suitable stop plugs.

 Installation: Replace seals.

Unclip electrical wiring harness at cooling pipe (4) (arrows).

If cable attachments are damaged,



Replace cable attachments.

Remove nut (5), screw (7) and support (6).

Remove coolant hose (8) at coolant connection (23) and cooler, place to one side and seal using suitable protective covers.

Remove coolant hose (9) at coolant connection (23) and seal openings using suitable protective covers.

Remove screws (10, 22) of coolant lines (11, 12) and oil feed line (13) at exhaust gas turbocharger, bracket and crankcase.

Remove coolant lines (11,12), oil line (13) and seal exposed openings with suitable stop plugs.

 Installation: Replace seals.

Remove coolant hose (14) from coolant line (15), seal with suitable stop plugs and protective covers.

Remove screws (16) at coolant line (15) at cylinder head, water pump and at crankcase and place to one side.

Remove screws (17) of coolant pipe (18) at crankcase and water pump.

 Bolt, feed pipe to coolant pump

Remove screws (19) at coolant connection (23).

 Bolt, ball valve to coolant pump

Place coolant connection (23) with coolant pipe (18) to one side.


Do not press coolant connection (23) too far to side.
Coolant pipe (18) will otherwise be damaged.

 Installation: Replace seals.

 Installation: Clean sealing surfaces.

Remove screws (20) at coolant pump (21).

 Screw, coolant pump to timing case/crankcase/oil pan

Remove coolant pump (21) from crankcase, collect escaping coolant with suitable container and seal openings with suitable means.

 Installation: Replace seals.

 Installation: Clean sealing surfaces.

Remove coolant hose (14) from coolant pump (21).

If coolant pump (21) is replaced.

Install in the reverse order.

 Warning

Risk of burn injuries, suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust.

Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the hazard area.
