Remove engine wiring harness cable duct

Unhook fuel filter (1) from bracket

 To do this open clamps and place fuel filter (1) with attached lines to one side.

Disconnect electrical connector (3)

Remove leak oil line (4)

 Close off connections at rail (8) and leak oil line (4). Grommets are available as an replacement part of the fuel injection system; see EPC Group 07.

Remove fuel return line (5)

 Close off connections at rail (8) and close off fuel return line (5). Grommets are available as an replacement part of the fuel injection system; see EPC Group 07.

Remove screw/bolt (6)


Do not crush or bend fuel pressure line (7).
Otherwise, malfunction or damage can occur.

Unscrew union nut on fuel pressure line (7) from rail (8)

 Close off connections at rail (8) and close off fuel pressure line (7). Grommets are available as an replacement part of the fuel injection system; see EPC Group 07.
Commercially available tools
Open end wrench insert, SW 17.

 Installation: Check fuel pressure line (7).

 Union nut, pressure line to high-pressure pump/rail

If damage is present:



Replace fuel pressure line (7).

Remove/install pressure line from high-pressure pump/fuel distributor

Remove rail (8)

 For this purpose unscrew screw/bolts (9) and disconnect cable tie.

 Installation: Replace cable tie.

 Screw/bolt, rail to cylinder head

Install in the reverse order

Attach diagnostic system, read out fault memory and initialize pressure sensor for rail (8)

Only when replacing rail (8).



Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
