Remove/install

Remove engine cover.

Disconnect electrical connection (3).

Unscrew the union nuts of the injection lines (1).

Note on calculation of tightening torque when using insertion or socket tools with various effective lengths

Counterhold connections for injection lines (1).
This prevents damage.


If the high-pressure fitting on fuel injector was loosened, the respective fuel injector must be replaced.
Otherwise leaks and malfunctions may occur.

 Commercially available devices/tools
Open-end wrench insert 17 mm.

 Union nut, pressure line to rail/fuel injector

If the high-pressure fitting was released from the fuel injector,



replace respective fuel injector.

Remove injection lines (1).


Ensure utmost cleanliness.
Leaks and damage nay occur otherwise.

 Installation:
Ensure utmost cleanliness. Always replace injection lines (1); do not crush or bend. When installing injection lines (1) of cylinders 3 and 4 , ensure that markings are located on side of rail (2).
Leaks can occur otherwise.

 Plug connections on rail (2) and fuel injectors. The grommets are available as a replacement part of the fuel injection system, see EPC, group 07.

Install in the reverse order.



Check

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Check for leaktightness when engine is running.
