Preparatory tasks | |||
3 | Attach belt pulley. | ||
For this purpose, attach belt pulley to crankshaft using old bolt.
Do not replace bolt. | |||
4 | Adjust camshafts to preadjustment. | For this purpose, turn crankshaft in direction of engine rotation.
5 | Remove screw plug (1) from crankcase (2).
6 | Screw drift into bore at crankcase (2). | Drift
7 | Turn engine at crankshaft in direction of engine rotation until crankshaft is in contact with drift. | Drift
| Check | ||
8 | Attach adjusting tool (3) with screw (4) to the cylinder head cover (5). | During attachment, wedge at adjusting tool (3) must engage in grooves (8) of exhaust camshaft and pins of adjusting tool (3) in bores (7) of intake camshaft gear. Camshafts are in basic position if adjusting tool (3) can be attached without high force expenditure.
Adjustment tool | |||
If adjusting tool (3) cannot be attached
| |||
Turn crankshaft until adjusting tool (3) can be effortlessly attached.
For this purpose, slightly turn crankshaft in or opposite the direction of engine rotation.
Adjustment tool | |||
If required to turn crankshaft,
| |||
remove drift again. | |||
Drift | |||
If the adjusting tool (3) still cannot be attached easily after turning the crankshaft,
| |||
Set basic position of camshafts.
