Risk of explosion due to escaping combustible gas or overheating of gas cylinders.Risk of injury caused by burns to skin and eyes. Risk of frostbite to body parts caused by escaping gas and by touching components near the valves when emptying gas cylinders. Risk of poisoning or suffocation caused by inhaling gas.

Remove any sources of ignition.
Protective clothing, safety gloves and safety glasses must always be worn.
Ensure that the work area is adequately ventilated.
When working on vehicles at ambient temperatures over 60 °C, all gas cylinders must be removed.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.

Drain off

Drain coolant at radiator.

 See information from body manufacturer. Select procedure according to design and accessibility. For this purpose, attach a drain hose to drain fitting (3) and release drain screw (2). Collect coolant in a clean vessel.

Drain coolant from crankcase.

 Loosen drain plug (4). Collect coolant in a clean vessel.

Switch off ignition.

Pour in

Tighten drain screw (4) at crankcase.

 Replace sealing ring and grease slightly.

Screw on drain screw (2) at cooler and remove drain hose.

Check coolant for soiling.

If severe contamination is present,



Replace coolant.

Check coolant with antifreeze tester.



If antifreeze additive concentration is too low



Correct concentration of antifreeze or replace coolant.

Fill in coolant.

Start engine, bleed engine cooling system.

 Allow engine to run for approx. 5 min at alternating engine speeds. Refill coolant continuously up to lower edge of filler neck.

Switch off engine.

Check engine cooling system for leak tightness.

 Visual inspection.
