Modification notes

20.9.00

Replaces STIN No. 43.30W010 dated 25.9.2000

In cases of complaints about inadequate retarder and engine brake response of unloaded vehicles no repair action is required on vehicles equipped with the BS/EPB control modules specified above. The impression of weak brake response is design related.

The control modules have been modified to avoid ABS activation that may occur in unloaded vehicles during rapid engagement of retarder levels.

Never respond to such complaints by replacing the BS/EPB or FR/FMR control modules.

Where several retarder levels are engaged quickly, the modified control modules now in use will deliver the braking power required, but not so much as to cause wheel lock-up.

The level of braking power is, however, always sufficient for the given road conditions.
