Remove/install coolant thermostat

Remove/install

 Danger!

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between columns of lifting platform and position four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.

Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Disconnect electrical connector at coolant temperature sensor (B11/4)

Remove bracket (20) for fuel lines

Detach coolant hose (17) and vent hose (18) from thermostat housing (9)

Check condition of the hose clamps and hoses and replace if damaged to prevent leakage.

Unscrew bolt (16)

Engine 646, 647, 648

Remove thermostat housing (9)

 Installation: For engine 611, 612, 613 observe installation position of connection fitting (14).

Replace gasket.



Install in the reverse order

Inspect cooling system for leaks

All engines except engine 611.962, 612.962/967/990, 646.962/963/966
