As a result of 58 dead holes in the flywheel. Sinusoidal-like voltage amplitude is induced in the built-in and pick up coil when flywheel rotates and passes through sensor.
The increase and decrease of magnetic flux occurring when the slots pass through the pick up coil, generates the electromotive force on the coil.
The voltage amplitude is amplified by a permanent magnet. The level of Induced voltage is dependent on clearance between flywheel and the crankshaft angle position sensor, as well as on the speed of the engine.
The long gap after 58 slots marks the position of the piston of the first cylinder in top dead center position.
The generated pulses are converted into rectangular waves by the input circuit in the engine electronic control unit, thus generating alternating current voltage.

General check points:
Inspect wiring at plug connection for pin numbers 39, 54 and 38, check and correct connection, if required.
Check and remove metal chips, if found.
Check the rotor for any damage.
Examine the position sensor for mechanical damages by pulling out the sensor, after stopping the engine and replace if required.
Installation guidelines:
The sensor must be mounted perpendicular to the surface of the flywheel housing using respective mounting aluminum plate.
Avoid using a screw driver to fit the sensor. After fitment ensure seating of the sensor holder face.
A quick diagnosis can be performed by verifying whether the engine RPM is getting displayed while cranking.
