Since 10/2014, the driven front axles have been installed with modified wheel hub to seal the tire pressure control system. The previous and the modified wheel hubs have the same part number and can only be distinguished by the drawing geometry status (ZGS).

Previously, the tire pressure control system in the wheel hub (11) with ZGS up to 004 was sealed using a double seal on both the inside and outside.
A double seal consists of a black radial shaft sealing ring (23) on the air side and a brown radial shaft sealing ring (22) on the oil side.

On the modified wheel hub (11) with ZGS as of 005, sealing is provided using a single seal on both the inside and outside.
The single seal is a newly developed radial shaft sealing ring (24). A conventional sealing lip on the radial shaft sealing ring (24) provides the seal on the oil side. The additional sealing lip on the other side of the radial shaft sealing ring (24) is made of the plastic PTFE and forms the seal on the air side.

The single seal can also be installed in an older wheel hub (11) with ZGS up to 004, i.e. if the tire pressure control system is leaking, a new wheel hub (11) with ZGS as of 005 does not necessarily have to be installed.
In this case, the 4 spacer washers (25) from the parts kit must additionally be installed. This adjusts the installation dimensions of the single seal to those of the double seal in the previous wheel hub (11) with ZGS up to 004.
The wheel hub (11) with ZGS as of 005 is constructed with the installation dimensions for the single seal. As a result, the 4 spacer washers (25) from the parts kit are not required and must NOT be installed in the wheel hub (11) with ZGS as of 005.
Only a parts kit (TS) for the single seal is now available as a replacement part.
