 Warning

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Remove/install

Remove low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation cooler.

 Installation: Only install upper engine cover after the leak test.

Remove SCR catalytic converter diesel particulate filter unit.

Remove screw/bolt (2).

Release top coolant return line for the exhaust gas turbocharger (8) from the exhaust gas turbocharger.

 Do not completely remove the top return line for the exhaust gas turbocharger (8).

Remove screw (3).

Remove screws (4, 5).

Remove screw/bolt (6).

Seal opening of the top coolant return line for the exhaust gas turbocharger (8) using a suitable stop plug.

Check

Check O-ring (7) for damage.

If O-ring (7) is damaged:



Replace lower coolant return line for exhaust gas turbocharger (1).

Check bottom coolant return line for the exhaust gas turbocharger (1) for damage.

If O-ring (7) is not damaged.

If lower coolant return line for exhaust gas turbocharger (1) is damaged:



Replace lower coolant return line for exhaust gas turbocharger (1).

Install in the reverse order.



Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Perform engine test run and check coolant circuit in the area of the bottom coolant return line for the exhaust gas turbocharger (1) for leak tightness.
