Remove/install

 Danger!

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns when working in engine during starting procedure

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.

Bring the engine up to operating temperature (approx. 80 °C)

 Test compression pressure only when engine is at normal operating temperature.

Remove air filter housing

Remove one spark plug from each cylinder

Replace spark plugs.

Switch ignition off, remove ignition key (transmitter key).

 On vehicles with Keyless Go, code 889: Press keyless go start/stop button repeatedly until ignition is switched off

Remove the Keyless Go transmitter card or transmitter key from the vehicle and store beyond the reach of the transmitter (at least 2 m).

Crank engine with starter

 Crank engine by pressing contact switch on compression tester (01).

 In order to remove the combustion residue from the cylinders, crank the engine for about 5 seconds with the starter.

Insert compression tester (01) into spark plug bore

Crank engine with starter.

 Crank engine by pressing contact switch at compression tester (01).

Conduct the inspection of the other cylinders in the same way

Compare measurements obtained with the specified pressures

 If the pressure measured is less than the minimum compression pressure or if the permissible difference between the individual cylinders is exceeded:



Inspect cylinders for leaks.
