P40.10-0002-01
Danger | Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. | Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
Topical note | Information on tires / rims
Topical note | Limited maximum speed for winter tires with speed index V
Preparatory activity | |||
1 | Lift vehicle with lifting platform.
| |||
| Check | ||
2 | Assess wear pattern of tires on front and rear axle. | Greater wear at the shoulder compared to the center of the tire is normal for the front wheel-and-tire assemblies. On the tires of the rear wheel-and-tire assemblies the wear at the center of the tread depth is mostly somewhat more pronounced than at the tire shoulders.
If an unusual wear pattern is present,
| |||
Rectify problem. | |||
After obtaining special order.
3 | Assess tire tread depths of tires on front and rear axle.
The major tread must exhibit a minimum tread depth of at least 1.6 mm (0.06 inches) along its entire circumference. Assess tire tread depth at point of greatest wear.
The cited tire tread depths apply for the Federal Republic of Germany. Observe other country-specific requirements accordingly.
If the minimum tread depth is reached,
| |||
Replace tires. | |||
After obtaining special order.
Finishing activity | |||
4 | Lower vehicle with vehicle lift.
